Agatha Christie adaptations have fallen out of Hollywood’s favour in recent years. There’s certainly not been one for a long while, but all that is about to change thanks to Kenneth Branagh, who is hoping to possibly kickstart a Poirot franchise with his new film Murder On The Orient Express.
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we’re now getting a good look at this new version of the classic whodunnit, as they’ve released a whole pile of new pictures from the film. We’ve added them to our gallery above so that you can have a flick through, but here’s a preview of the cover, which features the whole cast together…
In the other images, we get to clap our eyes on plenty of lovable faces, including The Force Awakens‘ Daisy Ridley as Mary Debenham, the iconic Judi Dench as Princess Natalia Dragomiroff, Penélope Cruz as Pilar Estravados, Josh Gad as Hector MacQueen, Willem Dafoe as Gerhard Hardman and of course the director himself as detective Hercule Poirot. Johnny Depp is also there.
Christie’s 1934 story (if you’re unfamiliar with the tome) has Poirot in the thick of it when someone gets stabbed to death on a journey aboard the Orient Express between Istanbul and Paris. After the train is stuck in a snowdrift, the detective seizes the chance to deduce who the murderer is before anyone can escape.
Will Branagh be starring in more big screen Poirot adventures? Well, let’s see how this one fares first, but he’s definitely up for it.
“I would be thrilled, I must say,” he told EW. “I have enjoyed it enormously, to delve into the nature of the character, to read more of the books, to understand, to admire with greater intensity what Agatha Christie’s talents were. That’s been really a great, great creative treat. So, I’d be absolutely delighted to do more, yeah.”
Murder On The Orient Express is due to arrive on November 10th.
More as we have it.
