Mr Robot season 3: Rizwan Manji joins the cast

News has reached us that Rizwan Manji will join Mr. Robot season 3 in a recurring role.

As Deadline reports, Manji is set to play the FBI partner of Grace Gummer’s Dominique DiPerro, helping with the investigation of the monumental Five/Nine hack of season 1. While Dominique spent much of season 2 a step behind the fsociety hackers in their messy Five/Nine fallout, she finally put the pieces together about its missing manipulator Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallström). Using a series of tragedies as her mark’s motivation, Dominique seems close to flipping fsociety’s Darlene (Carly Chaikin) towards the bust of a lifetime. Now, she’ll have the help of Manji’s unnamed character.

Manji has been seen in high-profile films such as The Wolf Of Wall StreetThe Dictator and the first Transformers flick. He’s also fielded a wide array of television roles on The MagiciansSchitt’s CreekBackstromSquad 85 and was one of the primary stars of the short-lived sitcom Outsourced.

The celebratory critical response to the show, which recently picked up multiple Emmy nominations, is likely more responsible for its renewal this year than its viewer figures. Like AMC’s Mad Men, this one’s a prestige buy for its network, popular with critics if not a huge ratings-pull.

For anyone yet to have the pleasure, Mr. Robot is a twisted psychological drama centring on Rami Malek’s luminously strange cyber-hacker Elliot Alderson and his relationship with Christian Slater’s mysterious eponymous character.

Season 2 went in a different direction to the first, fracturing reality further and playing with ideas of time and space, escalating references to time travel and alternate timelines, and culminating in a cliffhanger that had viewers scratching their heads.

Mr. Robot is available to stream here in the UK on Amazon Video, and you can read our spoiler-filled Mr. Robot reviews and more here.

Mr Robot season 3 release date

Sam Esmail’s bold, paranoid tech-drama has been renewed for a third season by The USA Network, but we now know that that Mr. Robot season 3 will appear on our screens later than previously expected.

Season 1 debuted in June and season 2 arrived in July, but season 3 will premiere in October this year. An exact date in the month is yet to be announced. The reasons for the shift haven’t been confirmed either.

Collider broke the news of the delay, as well as confirming that Mr Esmail will once again direct every episode of the season. He adopted this strategy on season 2.
