LATEST UPDATE: We’ve now added eight new character posters for Star Wars: Rogue One to our gallery. Just click or tap on the big image to load them all up nice and big. Here’s a sample for you…
Also, Lucasfilm-Disney have been particularly canny in their use of fan nostalgia for the Star Wars golden years of the 70s and 80s. Case in point: dressing up set photos as Topps trading cards, right down to the pre-digital designs and typography.
Arriving courtesy of Making Star Wars, Slash Film and Entertainment Weekly, a new batch of card images from Star Wars: Rogue One shows us much we’ve seen before: Death Troopers, Ben Mendelsohn’s evil Director Krennic brooding in his white cape, but some surprising new things, too. The first thing that caught our eye was a card featuring two Mon Calamari – the alien race that brought us the unforgettable Admiral “It’s a trap!” Ackbar. The ones in Rogue One are a distinctive shade of white, and we’re guessing they’ll be a background detail for fans to pick out rather than main characters. They’re a fun addition, though, we must say.
Next, and more arresting still, are a couple of images illustrating the desert moon, Jedha. We’ve heard before that Jedha is the site of a Jedi temple, and is considered a holy place by those versed in the ways of the Force. These trading cards show some of the local colour we’ll see in the finished movie, and the costumes look spectacular.
You can see the rest of the Topps cards – about 20 of them, all told – by clicking through our fancy gallery above.

Star Wars: Rogue One – new poster
A new poster has been released for Star Wars: Rogue One, that should leave few in doubt as to the importance of Felicity Jones to the story. And it comes ahead of the release of a brand new trailer for the film, that is due later today (or quite feasibly early tomorrow on UK time).
Here’s the new poster, and you can find lots of Rogue One images by tapping on the gallery thingy above…
