The Mummy: one last trailer lands

With just a few weeks to go until its release, Universal has unveiled a final trailer for its incoming reboot of The Mummy. And it looks like this…

While you’re here, earlier this month we got a featurette for the film that finally gave us a glimpse at Russell Crowe’s alter ego Mr. Hyde. Crowe had been dotted around the trailers previously as Dr. Jekyll, who as it turns out has a ton of exposition to drop on our heroes, but up until now we hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting his counterpart.

Have a look at him in action in the video below:

We’ll have to wait and see whether Crowe transforms into a slightly more CGI-heavy version of the character later on – but for now, that’s our lot.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman (Fringe, Sleepy Hollow) the reboot of The Mummy is one of the first big movies to land in the summer season. It’s the director’s second feature film, and the studio have everything crossed that it’ll make enough cash to kickstart a new Universal Monsters franchise for them, with Crowe possibly returning in his own spin-off movie.

Sofia Boutella (ol’ stabby legs in Kingsman: The Secret Service and newcomer Jaylah in Star Trek Beyond) will be the mummy to be reckoned with this time around, and there’ll be some guy called Tom Cruise too. I’ve not heard of him, personally, but this could be his big break.

The Mummy release date

The Mummy arrives in cinemas on June 9th.
