The Walking Dead season 8 cast
Here’s a quick update on The Walking Dead season 8. TV Line is reporting that Steven Ogg, Katelyn Nacon, and Pollyanna McIntosh have been upgraded to ‘season regulars’ for the upcoming season of AMC’s zombie drama.
In case you’re not familiar with the names, let us fill you in: Steven Ogg plays Negan’s right hand man Simon, who spends most of his time bullying The Kingdom; Katelyn Nacon plays Enid, who’s developing a romantic relationship of sorts with Carl; and Pollyanna McIntosh plays Jadis, leader of the ‘garbage people’ known as The Scavengers.
Those three have been promoted from ‘guest star’ status and will be on our screens a lot more in season 8.
The Walking Dead season 8 renewal
It was confirmed back in October 2016 that The Walking Dead season 8 will be coming to AMC in autumn 2017. The news wasn’t exactly surprising, given the ratings lure the show continues to have and the very chatty online fanbase it attracts.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, more,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios in a statement released by AMC. “What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott M. Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.”
Gimple himself, the current showrunner, has now come forth to tease the new season, following the dramatic finale of The Walking Dead season 7.
In conversation with Chris Hardwick on The Talking Dead (which EW reported online), Gimple was asked to tease the next season of the zombie-stuffed hit show. Here’s what he offered…
“Every year you ask me that question […] I say it’s going to be bigger, it’s going to be more intense. I say these things and I’ve meant them every year and I think we’ve actually accomplished that. This year, same thing. More intense. The first 4 episodes will melt people’s minds and break their televisions.”
Yikes, that does sound pretty intense. Of course, we’re all expecting the ‘All Out War’ arc from the comics to come into play now, with Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan engaging in a massive conflict. Only one of them has a tiger on their side, which seems a bit unfair. Poor Negan.
The Walking Dead season 8 release date
