The Wolverine 3 is now called Logan, first poster

Earlier this very day, we reported that the wraps were going to start coming off The Wolverine 3. And, just hours later, that’s what’s happened. A Tweet from director James Mangold has revealed the title of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine swansong. It’s now called, simply, Logan.

The Tweet features a page of the script – complete with sweary bit, in line with the assumed 15/R rating the film is aiming for. And without further ado, here’s that Tweet…

There you have it. The Wolverine 3 is dead. Long live Logan. To prove it, the first poster is here too…

From earlier today…

Things have been quiet on The Wolverine 3 front for a little while. The film is deep into post-production, and there’s six months to go before it lands on cinema screens. As such, the lack of promotional material thus far has been surprising. But that’s about to change.

Hugh Jackman, chatting to ET Online, said that “we’ve finished shooting. I just saw Jim Mangold [the film’s director] today. He’s editing away and finishing that. There’s going to be some stuff coming out in the next week or so. That’s all I’ll say. I’m not good. I’m the kind of person who tells everybody everything. Basically it’s going to be different. Very different in tone and hopefully to anything we’ve done”.

Intriguing. By the sounds of it, materials will start to land by the middle of the month, and we’ll keep you posted as we discover more (like the film’s official title, for a start)…

The Wolverine 3 release date

The third Wolverine movie is due in cinemas in March 2017. It’s set to reach the UK on March 2nd, and the USA on March 3rd.

Fox’s Simon Kinberg recently revealed to Collider that this will be “an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film”.
