Will Valerian be a truly great movie? Possibly, but the most expensive French film ever is now just a couple of months away, and we’ve got everything crossed that it’s fun enough to make a mint regardless. In a summer packed with sequels, remakes, reboots and franchise films, a win for Valerian might just be a big win for interesting new left field blockbusters, and that’s something we can fully get on board with.
Directed by Luc Besson, and his first full-on blockbuster sci-fi film since The Fifth Element (we’ll argue about Lucy later), the film stars the rather odd coupling of Dane DeHaan (A Cure For Wellness, Chronicle) and Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) as special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe.
The trailer looked pretty as hell, and now here are 9 (9!) new Valerian posters for us to have a look at, too. The majority of them are international character posters, but that certainly won’t ruin your enjoyment of examining all the humans, robots and creatures populating Besson’s new world.
We’ve added all those posters to our gallery, and you can have a closer look at them by clicking on the main image above. In a cute aliens vs. intriguing robots dance-off, who will win?
Here’s a preview of our favourite:
It could have been any of them to be fair, but when Rihanna’s a choice, you gotta pick Rihanna.
Ah, and here’s the most recent trailer for Valerian, if you missed it. It’s a cracker.
More as we have it.
