Let’s get straight down to business. Here’s the brand new trailer for Wonder Woman…
The big mystery of the film so far – at least before the latest trailer release – has been who the heck the villain of the movie is supposed to be. We previously speculated based on one of the trailers that it’s God of War, and Wonder Woman foe, Ares, and that he’s being played by Danny Huston. Here’s a still from that trailer:
It appears that Ares is definitely the baddie in the movie, and that means this is probably his earthly incarnation. The info comes from a French magazine that was brought to Blastr‘s attention by Les Étoiles Héroiques, so with the knowledge that Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor ends up crashed on Themyscira because he stole a notebook full of formulas for weapons of mass destruction, here’s what the article had to say about Ares, as well as some other story details:
“Behind these scientific formulas, there is a deadly gas that could well annihilate humanity. It turns out that it might interest Ares, the god of war. He is jealous of humanity, which is a creation of his father, the deceased Zeus (the Amazons and Zeus rebelled against Ares and Zeus died at the hand of his son).
“Why did Zeus create the Amazons? Because shaping man in his image made his son Ares, incidentally a god of war, mad with jealousy. To restore harmony between them, Zeus created the Amazons, which Ares reduced to slavery. The Amazons revolt with the help of Zeus, who will die at the hand of his son, having had time to find Themyscira, their haven of peace where they will grow Diana. (…) Diana Prince becomes Wonder Woman by helping Steve Trevor and a squad of proud arms-in-law in search of one who wants to wipe humanity off the map with deadly gas.”
We’ll bring you more on Wonder Woman as we have it.
In the meantime, here’s the earlier trailer for the film…
