Cars 3 early character details

I don’t think we’re being wildly out of step to suggest that of all the sequels on Pixar’s upcoming roster, Cars 3 is the one generating the least enthusiasm. Appreciating that many people get an awful lot out of the Cars films to date, they’ve never really – sorry – clicked into gear for us. Maybe next year’s Cars 3 will do something about that.

The plot this time around sees Lightning McQueen – voiced again by Owen Wilson – still in the world of racing, only this time, things are getting even tougher. As such, he needs a trainer, and she comes in the form of Cruz Ramirez. As now-confirmed director Brian Fee (making his directorial debut, having worked, amongst others, on the previous movies) teased, “[McQueen] is not an old man, but he’s one of the older dcars on the circuit with new rookies coming in. People start to wonder and ask when he might return”.

Enter new upstart Jackson Storm, the newcomer to the racing circuit who’s going to be pushing Lightning McQueen, it seems. No word yet on who’s voicing these new characters. We can exclusively reveal it’s not us.

Accompanying the fresh details was some concept art, that you can see by clicking on the gallery thingy at the top there.

Cars 3 is currently due to arrive in June 2017.
