Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9: Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham on her role

It’s been exactly a year since Curb Your Enthusiasm fans found out that a ninth season of the endlessly popular HBO comedy was coming their way, but we’ve heard precious little about it since. Back then, we’d have imagined new episodes would have arrived by now, but the cable network have been extremely quiet about when we can expect it to finally arrive on screens.

Filming has taken place, however, and Lauren Graham, who already blew us away earlier in the year when the Netflix-revived Gilmore Girls landed, is set to give us another, entirely different jolt when we eventually see her working opposite Larry David.

The actress recently described her experience working on the show as “fantastic” to TVLine, before adding that “there really is no greater joy than actually making Larry David laugh. And he really laughs hard.”

Although not keen to divulge too much about her appearances on Curb, Graham admitted that the woman she plays is “someone who has very colourful language” and she subsequently felt that landing this new role “was the perfect answer to ‘What do I do now?!’ because this character is completely not me at all. I speak in a way that I don’t speak ever.”

And while the Bad Santa star is used to sticking to a very elaborate script over on Gilmore Girls, trying to adapt to a completely different way of doing things on the Curb set was a bit harder than she imagined.

“All you get is an outline and then you improvise around it,” she explained, adding that co-star and Cheers legend Ted Danson “was like, ‘This is cable. You can really [let loose]. Think of the craziest thing possible.’ And my brain so doesn’t work that way.”

We’ll bring you more on the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm as we have it, including that elusive airdate.
