John Wick 2: see loads of new images

Not too long to wait now for John Wick: Chapter 2, and its arrival will be not a moment too soon, as we are chomping at the bit for this one. The Keanu Reeves-starring, carnage-filled first film wasn’t just a hit with the crusty old crew at Den Of Geek, mind, it was also a surprise hit at the box office – making $86 million off the back of a $20 million budget.

We’ve grabbed you a new poster and a bunch of new images for the film (courtesy of Lionsgate) and have added them to our handy gallery above, but here’s a quick preview:

We’ve also picked up this John Wick: Chapter 2 interview that Reeves, Fishburn and Common did with Fox5 while promoting the film – but beware, there are spoilers within.

An interesting fact that surfaces near the beginning of the interview, however, is that the sequel takes place just five days after the first film, so Wick’s blood should still be boiling in earnest after the events he just suffered through.

Check it out below, if you fancy…

Joining Keanu Reeves as John Wick this time around will be Ruby Rose (Orange Is The New Black), John Leguizamo (Chef) and Ian McShane (American Gods).

John Wick 2 release date

John Wick: Chapter Two will land in the US on February 10th 2017. In the UK, we have to wait until February 17th.

Confirming the running time for the film at 122 minutes, the BBFC has awarded the film a 15 certificate in the UK. It gets it for “strong violence, gory images, suicide scene, language”, which suggests the film hasn’t been compromised. There’s clearly no sign of a 12A here.

However, further examination of the BBFC’s report reveals that the film has still been cut to get its UK cinema release. Presumably, it was originally going to be an 18, but Warner Bros – the UK distributor for the film – wanted a 15. As such, 23 seconds have been snipped. The BBFC writes that “The cuts were made at the request of the distributor to achieve a particular category. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 23s were required. Details of cuts below may contain spoilers or plot details”. “Bloody injury detail” in one specific scene have accounted for the 23 seconds of trimming.
