Archie fans rejoice. Riverdale, the new series from The CW based on the eternally fresh-faced comics is heading our way later in the month, and ahead of the first episode the network have released these excellent new portraits of the main players.
We’ve added all of them to our handy gallery above, which you can launch by clicking on the main picture. Riverdale stars KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as (no doubt the one to watch) Jughead Jones, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Madchen Amick as Alice Cooper and Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, and is looking like a much darker vision of the Archie universe than we were initially expecting – not that this is a bad thing!
Here’s a preview of one of the portraits. Naturally, we chose Cole Sprouse (you may remember him as little Ben Gellar on Friends, he has grown a little since then…) who plays the irrepressible Jughead:
Also, slightly off topic here, but if you’re an Archie fan and Twitter user, the @ArchieComics account is very on the ball with all the latest news from the world of Riverdale, both in print and in general, and there’s been an ongoing – and particularly savage – Reggie-bashing thread which started in February of last year that may very well steal your heart:
More as we have it.
