The Punisher: shooting finishes

Jon Bernthal will return as Frank Castle in Netflix’s The Punisher, which seems sure to pick up where the gun-loving vigilante’s arc left off at the end of Daredevil season 2.

And here’s a fun fact for you: shooting has now finished on season 1 of The Punisher.

If The Punisher was a real person, he’d be gutted to hear that. ‘No more shooting?!’, he’d think. ‘But shooting is my favourite thing!’ (Arf.)

The cast and crew have had a wrap party, and now post-production is all that stands between us and some Marvel-approved bloodletting.

Here’s a pic of Mr Bernthal at the aforementioned party, courtesy of CBR

We’re yet to see a trailer for the series, but we have seen a fair few images, which prove that Bernthal is bringing his A+ frowning game to the fore once more.

Unfortunately, since we don’t have an account with Getty Images, we aren’t allowed to repurpose the images here.

But we can encourage you to click on this link and see them for yourself. Enjoy!

Marvel’s The Punisher release date

The latest announcement from Marvel.com tells us that the series “will stream globally on Netflix in 2017.”

That was the hot rumour anyway, but it’s nice to know for sure. We’ll let you know when they narrow it down to a month, a week or a day.

Marvel’s The Punisher cast

In that same announcement, Marvel confirmed five new members of the cast for The Punisher. We’ve also got descriptions of all their characters.

Daniel Webber (above left, seen previously in 11.22.63) has signed up to play Lewis Walcott, described as “a young veteran who has had a difficult time re-assimilating into Civilian Society”.

Jason R. Moore (above right, seen before in A Lonely Place For Dying) will portray Curtis Hoyle, “a friend of Frank Castle’s and one of the few people who knows he is alive”.

Paul Schulze (above left, known for Nurse Jackie) will play Rawlins, “a high-ranking member of the CIA whose operations in Afghanistan intersect with Frank Castle”.

Jaime Ray Newman (above middle / Bates Motel) is playing Sarah Lieberman, “Micro’s wife, whose marriage has made her life far more complicated”.

Michael Nathanson (The Knick / The Wolf Of Wall Street / above right) has been cast as Sam Stein, “a Homeland agent who is challenged by his partnership with Dinah”.

Previously, we learned that Ebon Moss-Bachrach, best recognised for the role of Desi in HBO’s Girls, will be playing “Micro, a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them” in the show.

And we know that Amber Rose Revah will portray Dinah Madani, “a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.” Both are pictured below.

The other news is that previously revealed castmember Ben Barnes (WestworldThe Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian) will be playing Billy Russo, “Frank’s Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces. He runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil.”’

We also know that Daredevil star Deborah Ann Woll will reprise her Karen Page role in the show, bringing that interesting relationship with Bernthal’s Frank Castle back to the screen.

More news as we hear it.
